The official TRIM support is already in Snow Leopard builds for the new Macbook Pros with SSDs and it's in Lion as well. The official support is only for the Apple's SSDs, no TRIM support for third party SSDs. There is a way to enable it for any SSD that supports TRIM, but it is a hack. Here's the thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1125400
Apple are usually conservative about their SSDs, they don't go for the top of the line SSDs. So, it is normal to see conservative speed from Apple's SSDs.

Wow, it looks great! Just a quick note, the 17" PB should be 100 GB, not 10 GB.

I agree a PM is more suitable and reckon I'll buy one within 12 months but as a cheaper alternative the Mini makes a great stop-gap.
You don't have to go straight from a mini to a PM. What about an iMac if you need more power? :)

I did but sorta regret it ... it's not SO unstable that it's unusable, but some features such as no Rosetta and the few bugs that make it annoying to use, do make me regret upgrading. Thankfully updates are coming regularly so things are only improving, and I dual-boot into W7 whenever something needs to get done bug-free.
Using Windows to get things done bug free? How ironic. ;)

I run torchlight just fine on my 4 year old MBP... but that game was designed for a netbook ;)
I remember when L4D came out, and my (at the time 2 year old MBP I believe) only met the minimum requirements... The general rule of thumb is, if you're a PC gamer, you keep a PC to game on, or you stop gaming.

That's what I got! Looking sweet now.
Ah, s***. Now your avatar's all over my television screen... and my TI-89... and my BBQ dinner! *falls over unconscious, then wakes up and falls over again into an infinite recursion*

Cr@p!
Till about a year ago (?) SpyMac was a decent contributor to the Mac-Rumors & Scene world.
What happened?
Did they hire a marketing bloke? Are they so in debt that they have to advertize every inch available on their site????
Jeez!
I used to check out their site on a daily basis.
There are a couple of things I do (and did) every morning:
1) Drink coffee
2) Check out MacRumors.com
3) Check out AppleInsider.com
4) Check out ThinkSecret.com
5) Check out SpyMac.com
6) Take a cr@p

No 1,000,000 on this one. (see my other one) Just for animation category, not 1,000,000 category. Or- if you watch it for long enough, it will rotate 1,000,000 times!!!

Importing from Europe would be even more interesting. But I'm not sure that most of the cars built for their consumption meet U.S. emissions and crash testing standards. Therefore, obtaining registration would probably be unduly difficult.
cars tend to be much more expensive (same models) in Europe,though... guess you wouldn't have to pay taxes there, but I am not sure to how much this accounts for.
I really wish to se the Audi A2 here in the US...it is not the most 'manly' car

So I have owned my 2011MBP (15", 2.2GHz) for about a month now, and while it isn't slow, it doesn't feel as fast as my 3 year old C2D (E6750) based system. On my Windows machine, I can run several virtual machines, for months, without even noticing any impact on other applications such as Adobe CS3, etc. This system only has 4GB of memory, and an older 750GB HD.
If I try running just 1 virtual machine (be it XP or Windows 7), it makes the laptop almost useless, while the VM itself isn't running that fast either. I have tweaked some of the performance settings in Parallels, but nothing seems to make a difference. I upgraded to 8GB of memory, still no difference.
Is this a typical experience?

For sale: Ipod nano, 2nd gen, 4 gig. capacity, works great, like new: no scratches that I know of, screen is nice, has been kept in case or sleeve (from my 1st gen nano) all its life. It's the Product Red color. Comes with 'iwave' black metal case. Despite what the pictures may show, the screen is bright and clear; the red aluminum is uniform in color and rather immaculate.
Includes retail packaging (no headphones unless you're really interested in sharing used ones...), USB cable, documentation, stickers, dock adapter, a number of UPC-ed bags from when I opened it. Package is missing UPC code from last year's back to school promotion for college students. I'm trying to sell my way into an ipod Touch. Also would entertain (crazed?) offers of trade + $ for touch.
I can take pictures if you'd like.
Caveat: It's got the engraving, w/ my name and email address. Plus I guess you can stay in contact with me at all times? The black case covers it.
Please reply with reasonable offers or advice; thanks in advance.

What do RAM cards for those go for? I have a couple pulled loooong ago from working machines. Probably an instruction manual somewhere too if it could ever get unearthed.
